I got your note this morning and I, too, am sorry I was not available to visit and thank you personally for all your good work for [our company].  The quality of the thought and deliverables that [Strong Point has] produced is very high indeed, and I know we will grow a lot as a company as we work to incorporate them into our products and our methods.  And, as you know, we still have some major components to design and build before we achieve our vision, so I can easily imagine future scenarios that will have us working together again.

[...] I heard your show was back in town. I had given your "Notes from the Author" from the [Product User] Manual [you wrote several years ago] to a manager the other day after having some discussion about what is in [the product you architected].  I've been looking at [the product because] they are trying to move [the functionality] to a new [vendor] product. The more I look at [what you created] and understand the more impressed I am by what is in there and how it was put together.
Definitely a good achievement - in my opinion. You have probably long forgotten about it by now, but still worth appreciating!
Thought I would pass that on.

[Dave's] dedication to quality and work ethic were contributing success factors to [the project].  Most importantly, Dave possesses the rare combination of technical expertise and business acumen.  His knowledge of the business and ability to communicate effectively at all levels...were an asset to the entire team.    Every PM should be fortunate enough to work with Dave on at least one of their projects.

You know what Doug? You get it. You hear me/my business case and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that!

Steve carefully crafted the most complicated technical solutions, keeping in mind potential future needs and ease of deployment.  He would often take on very difficult processes..and [resolve them] in a quarter of the time the majority of developers are able to solve them.  His work will have a lasting and positive effect on our business.

Dave's work ethic, attention to detail, leadership, and ability to bridge the gap between technology and business needs were a key component to our success.  Dave gave us a real sense of responsibility and ownership.  If he said he was going to get a Herculean task completed by a difficult timeline, it was always done on time with the highest of quality.
